APCI PROPOSAL OFFICIALLY ADOPTED IN KBLI 2025: PAINT INDUSTRY NOW HAS ITS OWN CLASSIFICATION
The Indonesian Paint Manufacturers Association (IPMA) welcomes the issuance of Statistics Indonesia Regulation No. 7 of 2025 concerning the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI), which officially accommodates the proposal to separate the paint industry from printing ink manufacturing.
Previously, both business activities were grouped under the same KBLI classification. However, IPMA emphasized that the paint industry has distinct functions, applications, and value chains compared to printing ink, and therefore requires a more specific and accurate classification.
Through KBLI 2025, the paint industry now stands independently under:
KBLI 20221 – Paint Manufacturing Industry
This development marks an important milestone for the national paint industry as it:
-
Provides clearer business classification
-
Supports more targeted industrial policies
-
Facilitates licensing processes, statistical data collection, and industry development programs
IPMA appreciates the collaboration with Statistics Indonesia (BPS) and all stakeholders involved in the drafting process of KBLI 2025. Moving forward, IPMA will continue to oversee the implementation of this policy and support its members in the adjustment process.
