ENVIRONMENTAL STANDING COMMITTEE

The Environmental Committee ensures that the Indonesian paint industry aligns with global sustainability standards and public health protection.
Lead-Free Indonesia Initiative
APCI actively participates in the National Action Plan (RAN) toward “Lead-Free Indonesia,” initiated by the Kementerian Koordinator Pembangunan Manusia dan Kebudayaan in collaboration with UNICEF and the World Health Organization (WHO).
A Technical Working Group (TWG) was established, involving the government, Kementerian Kesehatan Republik Indonesia, APCI, and other stakeholders.
Main objectives:

Eliminate lead content in paint products.

Protect public health, especially children.

Harmonize Indonesian standards with WHO recommendations.
Green Industry Standard (SIH)
The Green Industry Standard (Standar Industri Hijau – SIH) is currently under review and is expected to become mandatory for water-based and solvent-based paint industries.
Key focus areas include:

Heavy metal restrictions (Pb, Cd, Hg, Cr VI).

Energy efficiency (fossil fuels and renewable energy).

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions management.
-
Future readiness for the Emission Trading System (ETS).

Water management and productivity efficiency.
