Industry & Investment Dynamics
Several major developments have shaped the current industry landscape:
- The acquisition of PT Asian Paint Indonesia by Berger Paint Singapore, marking significant regional consolidation.
- The entry of imported paint products and new manufacturing facilities from China, increasing competitive pressure in pricing and production capacity.
- The Negative Investment List (DNI) for paint manufacturing remains open for areas outside Java Island, creating expansion opportunities.
- Strategic coordination between APCI and ARSI (Indonesian Synthetic Resin Association) on 4 October 2025 to strengthen upstream–downstream integration.
These developments highlight the need for APCI members to enhance efficiency, innovation, and regulatory compliance in a rapidly evolving market.
Strategic Government Synergy
APCI encourages members to increase participation in public infrastructure projects by:
- Registering companies as Ministry of Public Works partners through SIMPK.
- Updating SIMPK data annually.
- Registering products directly with SDMPK of the Ministry of Public Works.
- Pursuing direct tender participation.
- Registering APCI with the Lembaga Pengembangan Jasa Konstruksi (LPJK – Construction Services Development Board).
These initiatives aim to expand members’ access to national infrastructure projects.
Support for the National 3 Million Housing Program
APCI supports the national program to build 3 million houses per year led by the Kementerian Perumahan dan Kawasan Permukiman (Ministry of Housing and Settlement Areas).
Key contributions include:
- Developing paint selection guidelines through the SIMAK Cat system.
- Identifying project opportunities in West Java and East Java.
- Supporting paint solutions for rural housing and urban apartment developments.
The Committee emphasizes industry readiness to sustainably meet large-scale national demand.
