KBLI ADJUSTMENT FOR THE PAINT, VARNISH, AND COATINGS INDUSTRY (KBLI 2025)
The Indonesian Paint Manufacturers Association (APCI) hereby conveys important information regarding the adjustment to the Indonesian Standard Industrial Classification (KBLI) for the paint and coatings industry sector, as stipulated in Regulation of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Number 7 of 2025 concerning KBLI, promulgated on 17 December 2025.
Under KBLI 2020, the sector was classified as follows:
20 – Manufacture of Chemicals and Chemical Products
202 – Manufacture of Other Chemical Products
2022 – Manufacture of Paints and Printing Ink, Varnishes and Similar Coatings and Lac
20221 – Manufacture of Paints and Printing Ink
20222 – Manufacture of Varnishes (including mastics)
20223 – Manufacture of Lac
Through a review process and input provided by APCI—particularly concerning differences in function, product characteristics, and production processes—it was proposed that the classification of paint and printing ink industries be separated.
The proposal has been officially accepted and accommodated in KBLI 2025, with the updated classification structure as follows:
2022 – Manufacture of Paints, Printing Ink, Varnishes and Similar Coatings, and Mastics
20221 – Manufacture of Paints
20222 – Manufacture of Varnishes
20223 – Manufacture of Putty
20229 – Manufacture of Other Coloring and Coating Preparations
Pursuant to the provisions of the regulation, business entities are granted a maximum adjustment period of six (6) months from the date of promulgation. APCI encourages all members to promptly adjust their business licenses and administrative records to ensure continued compliance with the applicable regulations.
